Sphinx - The Great Sphinx of Egypt is really a building. It looks like a lion with the head of a person. No one knows why the Sphinx was built. It is in a hot, dry desert. The wind piles up sand around it. Often sand has to be taken away so it will not cover the Sphinx.

Behind the Sphinx you can see one of the great pyramids. These are huge triangle-shaped buildings. No one knows how workers of long ago were able to build them.
